Mely's Kitchen

Overview

Mely's Kitchen is a Belgian cooking and catering business built around homemade food and the personal touch that comes with it. The business needed a web presence that could do what word of mouth alone could not: reach new clients, communicate the quality and warmth of the food, and give people a clear path to make a booking or enquiry.

The challenge

Food businesses live and die on visual appeal and trust. The brief was to build something that felt warm and personal rather than generic, a site that communicated the personality behind the kitchen and not just a list of services. It also needed to work seamlessly on mobile, since most visitors would be browsing on their phones while looking for catering for an event.

What I built

A statically generated Next.js site with a layout designed to put the food first: hero imagery, a clear menu section, the story behind the business, and a direct route to get in touch.

Technical decisions

Next.js with static generation keeps the site fast with no server to maintain, which is critical for image-heavy food sites where load time directly affects bounce rate. Tailwind kept the design iteration tight. No CMS was needed for v1 and content updates go through a quick redeploy, keeping ongoing costs at zero.

Outcome

The site is live and serves as Mely's Kitchen's primary digital presence, giving the business a professional home online and a direct channel for catering enquiries.
